In this article, we have discussed all the possible methods to change the notification sound of your Android in detail.

Change Default Global Notification Sounds on Android

Is there anything about your Android that cannot be changed? As far as we know, your Android allows you to adjust anything and everything in it, including its default global notification sound. So, if you wish to change the boring sounds that you hear whenever you receive a text message or an app alert, you may follow the instructions provided below.

Note that the instructions below work on the Androids running on 8.0 Oreo or above.

Step 1. Navigate to Settings on your Android.

Step 2. Move down to find “Apps & Notifications.”

Step 3. Select Notifications.

Step 4. Tap on Advanced.

Step 5. Select “Default notification sounds” at the bottom.

You may now choose your favorite sound from the library that opens up.

Change Notification Sounds by App

If you want a different notification sound from each application on your Android, you may consider customizing the sounds from the notification settings because not all the apps provide in-app sound changing features.

You may follow the instructions below to change the sound from notification settings.

Step 1. Navigate to Settings on your Android.

Step 2. Move down to find “Apps & Notifications.”

Step 3. Go to the “Recently Opened Apps” and then tap on Messages.

Steps 4. Select “Notifications -> Instagram direct -> Advanced -> Sound.” (We are using Instagram for illustration here.)

Step 5. Open the default sound library, and select the notification sound for Instagram.

You can also set different notification sounds for each type of alert from Instagram, including Direct Video Chat, First Posts, and Stories.

Apps With Built-In Notification Sound Option

Fortunately, some applications do have a built-in option for changing their notification sounds. Meaning, you can easily change the notification sound from within the app. For instance, you can adjust notification sounds from the Facebook app itself. To do so, follow the steps below:

Step 1. Open the Facebook app on your Android device.

Step 2. Tap on the triple-bar menu at the top-right corner.

Step 3. Move down to find “Settings & Privacy.”

Step 4. Tap on Settings from the drop-down menu.

Step 5. Now, select “Notification Settings” from the Notifications section.

Step 6. In the “Where You Receive Notifications” section at the bottom, tap on “Push,” and then “Tone.”

Step 7. Now, you can select your favorite notification sound from the list that appears.

How to Add Custom Notification Sounds

In case you are unable to find a notification sound that interests your ears then you can try custom notification sounds. Now, this can be done in two ways. Either use an application like Zedge or create a custom notification sound from an audio file.

You can use your favorite song or short custom made recording in the audio file.

Change Notification Sounds with Zedge

Please know that Zedge is a paid application with a free trial of three days. Plus, the free version doesn’t allow you access to the full sound library. The paid version comes in two different plans with a variety of features to enjoy. If you are planning to use the trial version to figure out if the app has everything you want, you may follow the instructions below for assistance.

Step 1. Open the Zedge app on your Android device.

Step 2. Tap on the triple-bar menu in the upper-left corner of the screen.

Step 3. Go to the “Notification sounds.”

Step 4. Browse the library to try various notification sounds.

Step 5. Once you have your pick, tap on it.

Step 6. Select the “Set Notification” button.

The tune will now become your global notification sound. Plus, you can use this tune as a contact ringtone, ringtone, or alarm sound.

We hope that now, you have the most interesting notification sound on your Android device.
